Addie seem to be troubled from a young and early age. She is unhappy with life and filled with rage. Her father’s negative influence and negative view on life seem to have an overwhelming affect on her. She saw Anse as a way out, as a rescue plan. Not because of her physical attraction to him or his personality, but instead she took him because of what he had and maybe what he could of done for her, mainly getting away from the life she had at that time. she was an opportunist and she was cunning. She seem to be empty and miserable, and not even the presence of her children seem to provide that joy for her. She appear to be even more upset and angry with the presence of her children and blames Anse for it. she blames everyone for everything. Addie is not a God fearing woman and ignores the advice of Cora about family values and God. She deceived her husband and had an affair with another man and had his child, she didnt care, she had no regret, and yet she believed she had not deceived her husband and believed that by having a few more children by him would right the wrong that she had did. she was very delusional and disturbed and saw death as a relief.

Thanks for posting this, George. You seem to understand Addie well after reading her narration. How do you feel about the journey the family is on now that you see what she was like?
